About Fuvahmulah: the one-island atoll
Fuvahmulah is unusual in the Maldives: one large island that forms an atoll of its own, with two freshwater lakes and UNESCO Biosphere Reserve status. Divers come for the tiger sharks of the “Tiger Zoo”, beginners can train in the 4.6 m Olige dive pool, and guesthouses such as Tiger Shark Residence and Marina Boutique cater for dive trips.
