The “Fairy Pond”

About Paree Fengandu, Gan

Paree Fengandu, the “Fairy Pond”, lies in thick greenery on Gan in Laamu Atoll, which Visit Maldives calls the largest natural island in the country. Islanders measured it at around 28 to 30 metres deep, the deepest pond on any Maldivian island, and the older generation tells stories of fairies over the water. Red mangroves and falling leaves tint it red, orange and green.
