About Utheemu Ganduvaru
Utheemu Ganduvaru, on the northern island of Utheemu, is the house where Sultan Mohamed Thakurufaanu grew up. He ruled from 1573 to 1585 and is remembered as a national hero, and Visit Maldives lists a visit among its 50 ultimate experiences. The government’s memorial centre to him is on the same island.
